Men Of Letters
  • Poet Gang, one of the earliest known men of letters of the district is said to have been born at village  eknor at flourished in the sixteenth century he was one of the court poets of Akbar and a fast friend of Abdul rahim Khan Khan-i-khana. Chhanda Kavaya is the well known work of the poet.
  • The District is proud of having produced the poet Deva alias Devadutta who was born in mohalla Pansari tola in 1683 AD. As many as 27 books written by him in Braj bhasha are now available. Bhav- Bilas, Bhakta- vilas, Kushal-vilas  and Vridha Manjari are his well known works.
  • Bhimsen sharma who was born in 1854 Ad was also a reknowned figure of the district. he was a professor in Calcutta University. Arya Sidhant and Brahmaksh Sarvaswa are his well known published works.
  • Dwarka Prasad Chaturvedi born in 1877 AD was a revolutionary cum literary figure of the district. He wrote about 100 books and prepared 6 Hindi dictionaries. Rachnaadharsha and Hindicharitanvudhi are the well known works. He was awarded the title of Sahitya Bhushan and Doctor of oriental culture.
  • Shishupal Singh "Shishu" who was born in 1911AD at village Udi wrote many original and enthusiastic poems. His famous works are Pariksha, Haldighati ki ek Raat, Apne Path Par, Nadi Kinare and Krishna Aur Mahatma Gandhi. A pillar was erected in his honour at the village Udi.

Musicians & Singers

Indian music has contributed a lot to worlds music & culture. Indian music reached every corner of the world a long time back. Etawah too has contributed to Indian music.
  • Km. Milan Singh, a resident of Jatpura, has earned a lot of fame and applause in India and abroad for her singing. She is invited for presenting her voice in major Music Conferences.
  • Late Shri Kalyan Das Verma or Kallu Ustad, was one of the renowned tabla players in India. He was a student of late Shri Ganga Prasad Pathak who was related to Banaras Gharana. He was expert in doing Sangat with Dhamar Ang, Nratya Ang, Tantra Vadhya. He played an important role in pouplarising tabla. He also helped in organising sangeets  (music) competition in district exhibition.
  • Late Shri Hamid Husain Khan or Puttan Khan Sahab, born in urdu mohalla, was son and student of renowned sitar player Imdad Khan Sahab. He worked as Head of Department Sitar at Maris College (Bhatkhande Sangeet University) till the age of 22. Ustad Vilayat Khan Sahab,  is his grandson.
  • Late Srihar Kishor Chaturvedi or Bum Bum Choubey, born to a Mathur Chaturvedi family in Chapeti Mohalla, was a student of Sri. Kashinathji of Gwalior Gharana. He was expert in Classical music, khayal, bhajan, gazal, dadra and thumri singing. 
  • Late Ustad Mulchandraji, born in Alakganj, was a renowned Sarangi player and a theatre artist.
  • Late Ustad Zafar Ali Warsi, resident of Mewati Tola, was expert in all the four forms of singing. The Maharaja of Jaipur was very fond of him.
  • Late Ustad faiz Baksh, was a famous singer from Mewati Tola. He spend most of his life with Jaipur and Jodhpur Maharajs.
  • Nausha Ali Warsi,  son of Late Sri. Zafar was resident of Sabitganj, Etawah. His father was his teacher also. He contributed a lot to  music. He is an Akashwarni artist. He is expert in khayal, thumri, dadra, gazal, bhajan and dhrupad singing.
  • Sri. Brahma Swarup Kulshestra, a student of Sri. Bikku Maharaj ( a renowned tabla player of Banaras Gharana) and Sri. Rangnathji, is a famous tabla player. He received scholarship for higher studies from Sangeet Natak Acedemy, Delhi.
  • Sri. Satguru Saranji, a resident of Purabiya Tola, a famous tabla player. He was son of Late Sri. Kallu Ustadji. His father was his guru also. He was expert in doing sangat of dhrupad, khayal, thumri, dances and string instruments. His programs are usually transmitted from Akashwarni, Surat.
